Agomelatine is used for treating severe depression.
Because of its lesser side-effects, it is more preferred medicine for treatment of depression. The withdrawal symptoms associated with most of the other anti-depressants are seen lesser with this medication, weight gain is also restricted. It has no potential for misuse.
It is not recommended for children below 12 years of age.
