What Are The Uses Of Protease?
Amylase, Lipase, Protease are a combination of digestive enzymes. In normal individuals, such enzymes are synthesized by the pancreas and released into the small intestine (for digestion). Amylase + Lipase + Protease are prescribed for patients who cannot synthesize the enzymes due to chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic malignancies, post-gastrointestinal bypass surgery, cystic fibrosis, and pancreatectomy.
Protease is used in the treatment of following conditions:
- Inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, skin burns
- Ischemic stroke (dilutes blood clots),
- Pain and discomfort of joints and bones.
- Digestive problems
- Wounds (wound healing)
It also prevents diabetic heart disease and atherosclerosis, colon cancer and boosts the immune system. It is used as an enzyme therapy, alternative for antibiotic therapy.
What Are The Side Effects Of Protease?
Protease is usually safe, but in some cases (of over dose) it may cause:
- A headache, nausea

- Abdominal cramps / bloating / pain
What Are The Contraindications Of Protease?
