What Are The Uses Of Risedronate?
Risedronate is a bisphosphonate which suppresses the osteoclasts (cells which destroy bone). It is used in the treatment of following conditions:
- Osteoporosis (condition in which bones get weak and thin due to low bone density) caused after menopause in women, patients on steroids medication.
What Are The Side Effects Of Risedronate?
Stomach upset may be experienced by some patients. Pl. inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the serious side-effects like:
- Bone, joint, muscle pain
- Difficulty in swallowing
- A headache, heartburn
What Are The Contraindications Of Risedronate?
Please inform your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity towards the drug risedronate or any other allergies.
- Hypocalcaemia (low levels of calcium)
- Gastroesophageal disorders like inflammation, blockage, ulcer of esophagus
- Burning stomach
