It is used as mydriatic to dilate (enlarge) the pupil so that the back portion of eye is visible to doctor. It may also be used before and after eye surgery.
It is used before eye examinations and examination of the fundus of the eye.
It works by relaxing the muscles of the eye to cause the pupil to dilate and paralysis of the ciliary muscle.
What Are The Side Effects Of Tropicamide?
Some of the common side-effects may be:
- Blurred vision
- Sensitivity of eyes to light
- Stinging of the eye when the medicine is applied
What Are The Contraindications Of Tropicamide?
Please inform your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:
- Narrow-angle glaucoma
- Shallow anterior chamber.
